On November 13th and 14th, a total of 20 people representing 12 different universities (UCL, King’s, Leeds, Birkbeck, Glasgow, Goldsmiths, Greenwich, Queen Mary, East London, West London, Westminster, Southampton) discussed the current situation for master’s level research in TESOL and related (multilingualism, etc.). Topic and methodology trends were identified. We also discussed the limitations of the short-period dissertation and report studies on these master’s programmes, with ideas about providing students with concrete choices that will allow them to achieve more meaningful and successful TESOL research projects.
